Language packs are helpful to view menus, wizards, dialog boxes, and other user interface items in your preferred language. Language packs for Windows contain resources required to translate some or all part of user interface into a specific language. For instance, when you install and set Arabic as your default language, you will see menus, Start screen text, and many other elements of user interface in Arabic.

In Windows 7, one could install language packs only in Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions. But in Windows 8, you can install language packs on all editions without a problem.

The only catch is that Microsoft isn’t providing direct download links to Windows 8 language packs. One needs to use the Control Panel to download and install language packs. At present, there are over 120 language packs available for Windows 8. As we mentioned earlier, you need to use the Control Panel to download and install language packs in Windows 8.

Please note that you need to install a separate language pack for Microsoft Office, and Windows language pack doesn’t help you translate the UI of third-party programs.
